Take action!

Project Respect works on various advocacy campaigns, targeting all levels of government and the community on issues relating to prostitution and trafficking. You can help support Project Respect by:

Writing a letter to Minister Wooldridge (Minister for Community Services, Women's Affairs and Mental Health) advocating for ongoing funding:

For over 12 years, Project Respect has survived on project grants only. We are extremely grateful for all support given to us by various levels of government, philanthropics and individuals, however to have the ability to plan for our future and use our resources well, we do need the security of ongoing funding.

If you are able to support our work by composing a letter to Minister Wooldridge to advocate for ongoing funding of Project Respect's services to women in the sex industry, it would be a huge help!  If you are pressed for time or unsure what to say,  you can download a letter template here!

Requesting the State Government to address the following:

  • Adequate, ongoing core funding for Project Respect to support women in the sex industry
  • Exit programs for women in the sex industry
  • Adoption of the Swedish legal model of prostitution laws
  • Better services for women in the sex industry

Requesting the Federal Government to address the following:

  • Visas and comprehensive support for all victims of trafficking
  • Better access to compensation for victims of trafficking
  • Adoption of court procedures which make testifying easier for victims of trafficking, such as those available to victims of sexual assault

Send a letter to an MP to lobby for reforms to Australia's counter-trafficking response which will provide a more humanitarian response for victims of trafficking.
