Project Respect AGM - Nov 18th

20 October 2009 - 5:17pm

Prostitution Control Act (1994): What's happened in 15 years?

In 1994, the Victorian Government introduced the Prostitution Control Act, stating it would replace 'piecemeal regulation of the prostitution industry in Victoria,' and would 'raise the barrier against organised crime,' 'protect our communities,' 'afford some level of protection for those who has resorted to prostitution,' and 'help to redress the imbalance in the law that has seen prostitutes punished while their clients are not.'

What has happened in the sex industry since 1994?

At the Project Respect AGM you will hear thought-provoking and insightful stories from women about their direct experiences of prostitution under the Prostitution Control Act, as well as their ideas on how improve women's experiences. Martin Foley, MP for Albert Park and Chairman of the Prostitution Control Act Ministerial Advisory Committee, will also speak about government policy, law and priorities.
